BABY SPRINKLE BAKING MARATHON

sometimes i impress myself! for example, last night i had a baking marathon while intoxicated and everything still turned out well! i was preparing for a baby sprinkle, which is a smaller version of a baby shower for a "seasoned" mom, and took on the task of making sweet treats. i do have to mention that for lent this year, i chose to forgo all sweet treats...so i can only tell you that my treats seemed to get a good response, but i don't know myself. so, i'll trust that my friends weren't just being nice. anyway, so my baking marathon consisted of 6 treats...2 go-tos ( smore's bars & salted chocolate caramel cookies ) and 4 new ones: FUNFETTI CAKE BATTER CHEX BUDDIES these were a favorite fun take on the chex puppy chow aka muddy buddies , but the chocolate & peanut butter is replaced with white chocolate & funfetti cake mix. posted on six sisters' stuff  by camille on february 17, 2012 5 c chex cereal 10 oz vanilla flavored almon...

THE MOST HANDSOME CHOCOLATE CAKEPOPS EVER

my co-worker asked me for some thoughts on what to do for her event. she has been preparing for her big launch party for her menswear brand, Fifth&Brannan , and i was flattered when she asked for my assistance in how to pull off her event. so, while we were playing with some ideas, she mentioned that in addition to the cheese pairings Cellar360 was offering with the Sledgehammer wines, she wanted something chocolatey and sweet. the first thing that popped in my mind were cakepops...they're easy, portable, fun, impressive favors! she asked if i was sure and i assured her that i would love to contribute however possible to help her with the launch. that meant a total of 200 cakepops, wrapped and finished with a tied strip of fabric straight from her line. these help make them look more distinguished and approachable for her target market...sophisticated, preppy men. if you ever want to attempt this, it takes 3 batches of cake and frosting. RED VELVET CHEESECAKE LOLLI-CAKEPOPS

i used to think french macarons were the next cupcake, but i have found something else sprouting up left and right...cakepops! if you thought cupcakes were easy handheld cakes, cakepops are even more portable and not as fragile (except when you're preparing them-see yummy tip below), so you don't have to worry about messing up the frosting. of course, we need to give serious thanks to bakerella for the introduction of this awesome, edible work of art. when i was on the search, i found a great idea for the red velvet cheesecake pops, but the recipe was using a box mix for the red velvet...i really wanted to make my own. so, i found a super tasty, easy recipe for the cake portion. but, i did have to cheat and buy a pre-made cheesecake...sometimes you have to choose your battles. S'MORES BARS

to redeem my baking skills (my last attempt at pumpkin bars turned into a sheet cake??), i decided i needed to try making another bar. so, on my weekly peruse of TasteSpotting , i was greeted by a decadent image of s'mores bars. the minute i laid eyes on them, i knew i had to make them. for awhile now, i've been craving that gooey, melted chocolate, perfectly toasted marshmallow, crisp, slightly sweet graham cracker goodness and this recipe was not only the easiest thing you'll put together, but it was just what i needed to satisfy the craving. PEBBLES MARSHMALLOW CRISPY TREATS

so, this is probably sac-religious, but i didn't want my bag of marshmallows to go to waste, and the only handy crispy cereal i had on hand were cocoa pebbles® . on the box there were also suggestions of other post cereals that can be used: honey bunches of oats, honeycombs, fruity pebbles, and banana nut crunch. maybe if i get adventurous i'll post my experience. believe me, i love the original rice krispies treat , but i do love these cocoa pebbles! plus, it will be a tasty treat for tomorrow's super bowl (assuming the husband doesn't get his grubby little hands all over them). PEBBLES MARSHMALLOW CRISPY TREATS RECIPE 1/4 c (1/2 stick) butter or margarine 1 pkg (10-1/2 oz) miniature marshmallows (6 cups) 13 oz cocoa pebbles cereal® (about 8-1/2 cups) microwave butter in 4-qt microwavable bowl on high 45 seconds or until melted. add marshmallows; toss to coat. microwave 1-1/2 seconds or until marshmallows are completely melted and mixture is well blended, sti...
